Project Wellness Foundation provides funding for the healthcare (medical and dental) and prescription drug costs of children.  The Project Wellness Foundation healthcare assistance client base will include children of low-income families who do not have health insurance and cannot afford to pay for healthcare and medication costs.  Project Wellness Foundation is raising funds by soliciting donations from individuals, businesses, and other charitable organizations, as well as by fundraising and grant writing activities.  All healthcare assistance monies are paid directly to a designated healthcare provider (doctor, dentist, clinic, hospital, etc.) or pharmacy. Sorry, we do not offer reimbursement programs at this time.

Children and adults in families with incomes below or near the federal poverty level have worse health than those with higher incomes. Undeniably, poverty causes poor health by its connection with inadequate nutrition, substandard housing, exposure to environmental hazards, unhealthy lifestyles, and decreased access to and use of healthcare services.

In 2006, the official poverty rate in the United States was 12.3 percent (36.5 million people).  In a breakdown by age, the poverty rate was 17.4 percent (12.8 million) for children under 18 years old (U.S. Census Bureau, Housing and Household Economic Statistics Division, 2007).  The percentage of the population under 65 years old with no health insurance coverage fluctuated between 16 and 18 percent between 1994 and 2004.
