A Note
Project Wellness Foundation, Inc.

Project Wellness Foundation also promotes HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention education.  We distribute printed literature (brochures, booklets, flyers, etc.) to our healthcare program participants, to at-risk groups, and to the general public. As with our healthcare assistance program, Project Wellness Foundation supports its HIV/AIDS program through contributions from individuals and corporations, grant-writing, and through proceeds from special events. It is our aim to educate and serve people living with or at risk for HIV/AIDS, and to combat prejudice and discrimination against those living with HIV/AIDS.

In 2005, the U.S. reached a new milestone in the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The number of Americans living with this disease topped 1 million. Last year, over 3.1 million people died from AIDS worldwide. Over 570,000 of these victims were under the age of 15... This is equivalent to one child dying every minute. Current public and private sector prevention efforts to stop new HIV infections are are inadequate. Studies show that this epidemic is being driven by several key factors in core populations, which if properly addressed, could significantly slow the spread of the disease. We need realistic, science-based approaches to HIV prevention, and we need them now. Proper funding placement will make this possible.

HIV and AIDS continue to be misunderstood throughout the world. This misunderstanding propagates stigma, myth, and discrimination. It is the goal of Project Wellness Foundation to be one of many resources in the fight against an ever-growing epidemic. Although HIV/AIDS is more prevalent in certain populations, this disease can affect  anyone regardless of socioeconomic status, age, race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or geographical location. It is everyone's responsibility to be educated about HIV and AIDS! Please help us support HIV/AIDS education!
